A single-herb liquid extract of dried seed of Perilla frutescens, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Perilla is an annual mint relative of East Asia, grown in green and deep purple forms with broad ruffled toothed leaves that smell of anise, cumin and cinnamon depending on the strain. In Japan it is shiso and the leaf is the point; in Korea the crop is grown as much for the seed, which is pressed into perilla oil or toasted and ground into soups and side dishes. This extract is made from that seed, which is small, round and grey-brown. Zi su zi is the Chinese name for the seed of the purple-leaved form.

Tincture: Perilla frutescens dried seed, organic sugar-cane alcohol, distilled water, vegetable glycerin USP.
Glycerite: Perilla frutescens dried seed, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.
